BEST BBQ ANYWHERE!! "RIB SHACK"

There is a BBQ Restaurant in Corinth MS, that has the best BBQ. (It's worth the drive) It doesn't matter if you want pulled pork or ribs. The ribs are a dry rub and they have a great flavor, but not messy.. The sandwich of pulled pork is great. I don't know what it is about it but it is so good. They also have slaw, baked beans and they have Crinkle Cut fries or "Home Fries" these are "REAL" potatoes that have been cut and deep fried. They have BBQ sauce, Ketchup, Hot Sauce and a Roll of Paper Towels on every table. There are two Flat Screen TV's with the Closed Caption turned on so you can catch up on new or sports or whatever. Almost every time we go there are several Motorcycles there and they will have tags from places like Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, and lots of other places. It is a clean and family friendly environment. They have bulletin boards on the wall and you can bring pics of your kids, grand kids or what ever and put on the boards. The people are so friendly.

They also have Hamburgers, smoked chicken, they also have something called a Pig Salad. There desserts are homemade. The strawberry cake is soo good!!

This restaurant is located on Highway 72 right behind Pizza Hut. It is pretty far back off the road and could be easy to miss. For excellent BBQ you need to give it a try!!!

Trust me, I am winging it as I am typing. Maybe the key word here is "Plan"!! Anyhoo. I have always been a fly by the seat of my pants type. I guess it comes from being in the restaurant business for umpteen years. If somebody did not show for work, guess who had to go to work????

Gustav is A 3!

Hurricane Gustav became a category 3 overnight. It is growing rapidly. I am still glued to the weather channel and worried about all my family along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Katrina devastated that area and I pray they don't get hit again. Not to mention what it did to New Orleans. I seen on the news they are not even going to open the Super Dome or the Convention Center as shelters in New Orleans. Tourist are being ask to leave by noon today!! Please keep praying for everyone in Gustav's Cross-hairs!!!!

Happy Birthday Daddy! I Miss You!!

My dad would have been 81 today. He was born in 1927 and was such a good man. He died of lung cancer on New Years day of 1994. Kelly remembers him and Robert loved him like a real dad. Chase remembers him some. He was only 2 when daddy died. This is a picture of Daddy with Chase the first time he saw him. Chase was born on Sep 10 and we went to the coast for Thanksgiving that same year.
We found out he had cancer on December the 3rd of 1993 and we had his funeral on January 3rd 1994. It all happened so fast. The cancer had done spread to far, by the time they found it. Daddy thought he had a pulled muscle in his back and it was the cancer.

I hope and pray that he can see Addie. He would be absolutely crazy over her. He loved kids and he was such a good daddy. We spent hours fishing, I followed him everywhere. I had three brothers and no sisters and I was Daddy's Girl all the way. I was so spoiled. Daddy would jump through hoops for me.
I really have a hard time on his birthday, Father's Day and New Years Day. It changed the meaning of New Years Day for me. Instead of being a new beginning it was the end.... of a good man who I wished would have lived to be 100. But God needed him more than we did and God knows things we don't. I trust in him and know that Daddy is watching over all of us from Heaven.
Robert has felt his presence here in our home before, once when Kelly was real sick. We had a peace about her that we did not have before. I can't explain it, but I am not suppose to. Daddy knew we were worried and was letting us know that everything was going to be OK.... I miss you so much Daddy. Please continue to look out for my family...
Oh, I hope you are having a wonderful Birthday party with Jesus!!

Toys R Us and Grandparents!

I went to Jackson with Kelly, Tony and Tootie yesterday to a doctor's appointment. We went by Sam's for Tony to get some office supplies and we fed Tootie there. Then we went to Toy's R Us. This was the first time I had ever been in there With Tootie.
This is a dangerous combination, Grandparents and Toy's R Us. I just had to buy her something!!! I found her a Tiger Basketball goal that growls when you make the basket(I think this will keep Tony entertained as well) We have also been looking for her one of those little wooden "cobbler's bench"! We found her one of those(I bought 2, one for my house and one for Home) We also found another wooden toy that has balls in the top and you hit them through a hole and it rolls down several levels and come out at the bottom of the tower.
She was pounding it good and we were gritting our teeth waiting for her to smack her finger. Her aim was pretty good. No sooner did we get pulled out of the driveway she had smacked her fingers. Kelly said she cried and cried.
But she was tired, and everything is worse when you are tired!!!
Grammy loves ya Tootie!!!

Gustav

There is another hurricane headed into the Gulf. I have family in Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, and Wiggins MS. This time of year I am on Pins and Needles and hopin that we don't have another Katrina. It filled my brothers home with about 5 foot of water and he was there when it happened. (he lives about a mile and a half from the coast) He still has not got his house back like it was. It was really hard on him.
My other brother had pulled down the attic stairs and was gathering everyone fixing to get them in the attic when the water started to recede.
My brother that lives in Wiggins is fixing to have to bring his very sick Mother-in-law home with hospice and he has four kids. It will be so hard; if not impossible for them to evacuate.
My Aunt's home, nothing was left but the roof, after Katrina. This was the same aunt that got water in her home after Camille only 5 inches From her Ceiling...these storms devastate property and change lives forever.
I was living in Pascagoula when Hurricane Camille hit and I remember it very well
If you are wondering where Pascagoula is it is right on the MS and AL border on the coast!!
Please pray that this storm goes away.
To wish it away from my family will be wishing it on someone else and I don't want to do that!!!!

MENU PLAN MONDAY CRUMBLED ON TUESDAY!!!!

Well, so much for my menu plan Monday. It has crumbled like stuck cornbread!!! It went downhill on Tuesday! HA
We had more leftovers than I thought and Robert wanted Pintos AGAIN. And the Cajun in me found some leftover Red Beans and Rice (that I forgot about.) Chase come in and looked at the menu I had taped on the Fridge and said "I thought we were havin' BLT's. So he grabbed some Leftover Potato Salad (that I had also forgot about) and eat it right out of the bowl and was talkin' about how good it was. It was late and he was hungry.
Anyhoo, we are suppose to have grilled cheese and soup tonight, but I am wondering if I should do the BLT's tonight because I have some tomatoes that are going to ruin if I don't use them.

Chase wanted to know what kind of Soup we were having. I told him, remember those cute little kids you see on TV in front of the Red and White Cans??? It will probably be one of those. He wanted me to make my V8 soup...(that's all I need is more leftovers of soup, that is, in the middle of summer!!!) Well I don't know what we will have for supper.

I guess that is why they call it a "PLAN" plans change, don't they????

We're Goin to Jackson!!

I can't believe how big Addie looks in this picture. She has grown so much!!!

I am goin' to Jackson with Kelly and Tony tomorrow. She has an appointment with a surgeon, to discuss surgery on her wrist. She has a cyst on the top of her wrist. She has had it drained a few times and it keeps coming back and is giving her lots of trouble. I will be going to keep an eye on Tootie so they can talk to the doctor "undisturbed" If My precious grand baby is in the room, trust me, she IS the center of attention. She is not one to be ignored!!! She has that kind of personality that you just can't help but love. She is out going and smiles all the time.

We will be leaving around lunch sometime and should not get back too late. We may run by Toys R Us and look for another gate. There was an accident tonight with one of the baby gates they have. Kelly will probably blog about that. Addie is OK though...

Well, we are healing over the loss of Patch. Blaze sure has been more subdued and quiet. It is going to take some time for him to get used to being alone. Robert told Chase he needs to spend more time with him the next few weeks.

I will go in tomorrow and work about a half a day before we head out. Keep Kelly in your prayers.

Are there Dogs in Heaven??

PATCH
Tears are rolling and I can hardly see the screen. The vet came to our home today and put Patch to sleep. It was drizzling rain and such a somber day for a somber mood. Dr. Edwards was so sweet he gave him a shot that put him to sleep first. He was very sympathetic and knew that Patch was a part of the family. Kyle and Jason were here with Chase and that was a huge help. Chase cried, but he knew it was best. He loved that dog, as did Robert and I. Kelly grew up with him too. I hope there are dogs in heaven, because if they are, Patch is with my Daddy right now.

Kyle dug the hole for us and said a prayer and it was so sweet. Chase has went over to Kyle's Grampa's shop to build some kind of Memorial for him to put out here in the yard where we buried him. I have tried not to cry in front of Chase and Robert because they are really taking it hard. I am home by myself and the tears are rolling like crazy. I know it had to be done. He was really starting not to feel good. He would not come when we called and when Blaze(our other dog)tried to get his food he could not even growl at him.

Blaze is running all over the back yard wondering where Patch is.

Well, life goes on.....

Patch

We have had lots of pets over the years. We are more dog people than cats. Cats just kinda sit there and look at ya. We have had a dog named Patch for almost ten years.(yes he got his name from the 101 Dalmatian movies. Chase named him) He was Chase's pet. He went with Robert to go pick him up from Billy Hardin. He is a rat terrier and has been such a good dog. When he was little he would cover himself up with an old towel we had put in his dog house. He is an outside dog. We can't have an inside pet. I am a flea and mosquito magnet(this is a huge Understatement ask any of my family) I can be in the room with a hundred other people and if there is a flea or mosquito it will bite me and no one else. Anyway, we took Patch to the vet a couple of months ago. He had a growth come up on his chest. We at first thought it was a ringworm, boil, snake bite and it would not go away. It kept getting bigger and bigger. We finally took him into the vet and he took one look at it and said it was Cancer. He said he could operate but more than likely he would not live through the surgery and it would only grow back. It is growing at an enormous rate. We have given him meds twice a day for the past couple of months to help slow the growth and to keep out infection, but we are losing the battle. I got a picture that doesn't really show it much. It looks really bad and I don't think it would be good to show a "better" picture of it. It is bigger than grapefruit size and everyday it looks like it is getting bigger. He is starting to act like he does not feel good. He also looks like he is losing weight. We told Chase when his quality of life starts to suffer we are going to have him put down. (I hate those words) But I can see it happening. Robert ask me today what do I think and I give him my blessing and I briefly discussed it with Chase.(he did not want to talk about it) Chase is old enough to know and we want his blessing too. He knows it is best but he has had this pet over half his life. Please keep us in your prayers.

I always Said "He could destroy a Sherman Tank"!!!!!

Chase is one of the very best teenager drivers I know. He does not drive too fast and he is not reckless and he has never had a wreck. But give him the keys to a vehicle, any vehicle and it will break down on him. He swears that it happens every time he fills the gas tank of said vehicle... Not just put in a few dollars worth, to get him where he is going. But tops off the tank...He has a 72 Buick, beautiful car but really bad on gas. We also have a 95 red jeep(it is kind of an extra vehicle that we have in case we need it) Chase has been driving it due to the High Gas Prices and the fact that his Girlfriend is 38 mile round trip from our house..

In the past 2 weeks, the jeep has had to have a alternator, a starter and the buick has had to have a new battery. Two days in a row, Chase called and was in a vehicle that would not crank and had to call us. The jeep had to be towed and the Buick had to be jumped off and drove to AutoZone for a new battery. He wanted to drive my Tahoe somewhere the other day and I laughed and told him "I don't Think so"!! It is running fine "thank you very much" I don't have time for car trouble.

I used to tease when he was little the he could "destroy a Sherman Tank". I did not realize how prophetic that would turn out to be. I have added a picture of Chase's car and a Before and After of the Jeep. This is probably what the Red Jeep will look like in a year(or maybe sooner)??!!!
I pray "Lord just keep him safe.... The cars can be replaced but he can't!!!

Hellooo Weekend!!

Today is Friday and we have had a busy week. Lot's of new listings, several closings and Andrea is trying to put together a new brochure. This is always a hectic time, the brochure is one of those projects where you put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door and hope no one comes a knockin!!!

Andrea is off today. She tries to take Fridays off if possible. It has worked out pretty good. The agents that have floor time on Friday answer the phones and I try to pick up the slack. Well I have to get up and start getting ready and head out to work... TGIF

ONE DAY I AM GOIN' TO FAX MYSELF TO BERMUDA!!!

This is where I would love to have been today!! One of those days at work. Nothing major...just one of "THOSE" days. Busy all day long without one minute to even look up....running here and running there....and at the end of the day, you look around and have not got anything done. The phone ringing, errands to run. We left long enough to get a burger at Wendy's came right back and eat lunch at my desk. I don't think Andrea even left, I think Chris brought her something back and she eat at her desk too..I Think... We have about 7 or 8 new listings to get on the net and I took 4 and told Andrea I would get them put on... at the end of the day there they sit right where I left them..untouched and not on the Internet.... OH well, tomorrow is another day.. and we will do it all again. But I love my job and I love the folks I work with. I am blessed beyond anything I could hope for. Life is good. We live in a great country and God is God and he is always in control, even if I'm not..... What else can I say!!!

I'M SO FAR BEHIND, I THINK I'M FIRST!!!!!!!

MENU PLAN MONDAY!!

MONDAY: EAT AT KELLY'S

TUESDAY: EAT AT KELLY'S

WEDNESDAY:EAT OUT

THURSDAY: EAT OUT

FRIDAY: EAT AT KELLY'S

SATURDAY: EAT AT KELLY'S

SUNDAY: KELLY HAS THE DAY OFF!!!(SHE HAS TO GROCERY SHOP FOR NEXT WEEK'S MENU)

I LOVE YOU KELLY, YOU ARE MY FAVORITE DAUGHTER AND TONY IS MY FAVORITE SON-IN-LAW.....

A Typical Weekend!!! Random Pictures!!

We have had an uneventful weekend. The usual grocery shopping and laundry and working around the pool. I went with Robert yesterday to take some new pictures of a cabin in Olive Hill. The owners had bought some new Patio furniture and had a mantel put up over the fireplace. We road around on the land some. Did some 4 wheelin'. I am not too crazy about, but it wasn't too bad. We crossed the same Creek 4 times. It winds all over the property.

This morning Robert and Chase went and done some sign work and took a few more pictures of some land that Robert has bought and we have put back on the market. Kelly called after church and I went by and got her and we went to Peebles and bought Addie some Fall and Winter clothes. She has had a ton of clothes but for this fall and winter she has hardly nothing!! Poor Baby! Yeah Right!! As long as I have a dollar in my pocket she won't do without.... I love shopping for her and buying her clothes, shoes, toys... it doesn't matter I just like buying her anything!!! We got her some PJ's and Kelly got her a couple of summer things too that she can wear this summer. She is growing so fast.

Mom came over this evening and drank coffee and had some Blackberry Cobbler with us. Her gout is acting up and she is in a lot of pain when this happens. She is taking her meds and that seems to be helping. Well that is about it for our weekend.

Chase spent some time with Amanda. She is a nice girl. I really like her.

LAS VEGAS BABY!!

Our United Country Convention will be here before you know it. It is in Vegas this year and everyone is so excited. I have never been to Vegas and I have never flown(on a big airplane that is) I have however flown in a small plane several times and one time Robert was flying the plane. Yes he took flying lessons a long time ago and has in about 20 hours. The day I went he was doing "touch and goes" this is when you are learning to land the plane. For one solid hour we landed(with wheels barely touching the runway)and then we took off again. Flew around the city and done it again. After about the 3rd time my stomach had been left on the runway. I got off that plane vowing "never again".

But it sure is a long way to Las Vegas and I don't want to spend that much time in a car. Soooo, I guess I will be flying if I can get my nerve up and God and I can have a little chat!! I know, I know, the drive to the airport is more dangerous and the flight. I have heard it all before. If my car tears up I can get out and walk. If the plane tears up we are screwed. It says in the Bible, Low the Lord will keep you safe" I know Low is not spelled that way(but you get my drift here).. Well I just don't know. I still have several months to think about it. It is in February(dead of winter). Does it even snow in Vegas?? It probably will and we will be slippin' and slidin' right into the airport. Then we will rent a car so we can spend 3 days driving back.

If anyone has any suggestions I'm listening. Maybe Dr. Jim will write me script for some Valuim. If that is spelled wrong I guess that is good, it means I'm not a dopehead...
Or I could just get to the airport early and hit the bars and hope that the Pilot doesn't!!!!

A Momma Knows These Things!

We had Chase back to the hospital yesterday for yet another Hyda Scan(this is a test that tells if your gall bladder is emptying like it is suppose to) He had one 2 years ago and it was dumping at 21%! (the low side of normal is 38%) so this means that if I had not been overruled by Chase and his Daddy he would be gallbladderless and would not have went through the last two years afraid to eat certain foods. Anyhoo, last year we done a second Hydascan, its dumping at 93% that day. Whoopee! Well nothing changes he still gets sick after he eats greasy or fatty foods, but not every time??? We take him to Lebonour and have a CT scan, endoscopy, colonoscopy, and blood work at the wazoo. Can't find nothing?? Really I told them I thought it was his gallbladder(I speak from experience, I don't have mine, Kelly had hers removed at the ripe young age of 21, she was doing the same thing Chase is doing now.... My mother is gallbladderless as is 2 of my 3 Dear brothers.) Yes we have a huge disdain for gall bladders!!! Well yesterday it is dumping at about 38 or 39 percent??? I have no idea what the doctors are going to do. Three reading that vary this much I just don't understand.. But the symptoms are as plain as the nose on your face. I did not call the doc today for fear of what I might hear?? I want to hear, "Yes We need to remove his gall bladder." If I don't get to hear that I really don't know what else to do.. I am at a loss of how to help my son. I do understand that a surgeon cannot remove body parts because Mommy says so. I would do this for him in a heartbeat if I knew it would make him better!! Keep us in your prayers!! We have excellent Medical Facilities here for a small town. The nuclear med tech, Karen is an angel. We have gotten to know here very well with all the Hyda Scans we have had!LOL We have a great surgeon here too. Dr. Greene, he did Kelly's and my surgery!!

MILLION DOLLAR COOKIES

I just saw this recipe on Leno. The woman Carolyn Gurtz entered the Pillsbury Baking Contest and won a Million Dollars with this recipe.

DOUBLE DELIGHT PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES

1/4 cup Fisher® Dry Roasted Peanuts, finely chopped

1/4 cup Domino® or C&H® Granulated Sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup JIF® Creamy Peanut Butter

1/2 cup Domino® or C&H® Confectioners Powdered Sugar

1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury® Create ‘n Bake® refrigerated peanut butter cookies, well chilled

DIRECTIONS

1. Heat oven to 375°F. In small bowl, mix chopped peanuts, granulated sugar and cinnamon; set aside.

2. In another small bowl, stir peanut butter and powdered sugar until completely blended. Shape mixture into 24 (1-inch) balls.

3. Cut roll of cookie dough into 12 slices. Cut each slice in half crosswise to make 24 pieces; flatten slightly. Shape 1 cookie dough piece around 1 peanut butter ball, covering completely. Repeat with remaining dough and balls.

4. Roll each covered ball in peanut mixture; gently pat mixture completely onto balls. On un greased large cookie sheets, place balls 2 inches apart. Spray bottom of drinking glass with CRISCO® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray; press into remaining peanut mixture. Flatten each ball to 1/2-inch thickness with bottom of glass. Sprinkle any remaining peanut mixture evenly on tops of cookies; gently press into dough.

5. Bake 7 to 12 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack. Store tightly covered.

I thought I would post this recipe so my sweet daughter Kelly "Crocker" might bake some and bring a few to her poor, pitiful underfed Daddy!! LOL I bet he would buy the ingredients even.

Redneck Cast Removal!!

It was past time for Amanda's cast to come off and she was ready. She was going to have to make a trip to Corinth for this. Chase went to her house and they attempted to cut it off but all they did was mangle it some. Robert said he could get it off but she would have to be sure and get permission from her parents. He thought he could do it with a pair of Cutco Scissors we had but part of the cast was too thick. So he sent Chase and Amanda to Lowes for a Hacksaw, which they could not find and they come back with a dry wall saw. It worked like a charm. We had a yard stick that was metal and I suggested they slide it inside the cast to protect her arm from the saw. I really did not want to call her Mom and tell her we were on the way to the ER to get stitches. It went very well with Kelly assisting. After we got it off she said it was still a little sore and stiff. We wrapped an ACE bandage around it to keep her from moving it!! That sounds strange we just took a Cast Off!! The doc told her a week ago it was healing nicely. It will probably be sore and weak for a while. Amanda did very well and did not faint. She is a really sweet girl and we look forward to seeing her.

Motorcycle SOLD!

Chase had his motorcycle for sale. It sold within a week from the time he put a For Sale sign on it. It was a good deal. It was just like new. He had out grown it long ago, but had issues with parting with it. He finally decided he needed the $1100.00 more than the motorcycle. He is going to put some of the money in savings and use the rest to fix up his car. He is a pretty good kid. He is home when he is suppose to be and has not gotten mixed up in drugs and alcohol. He loves playing his guitar and hangin with friends. This is his senior year and he is in the group "Wired" at HCHS and he is so excited. I can't believe he is a senior already. As for the #13 Chase has always thought of that as a lucky number. It was the number Robert wore on his jersey when he played Basketball when he was a kid!!

It's Friday! My, How time flies!!

Well, it is Friday and this week went way smoother than last. Thank you Lord. The emailing situation is resolved... Thank You Andrea!!

We have an appointment for Chase Monday at HMC for another Hyda-scan. (yes he will be late for his first day of school as a senior!!!) This will make three in two years. I believe he is having gall bladder trouble. I am familiar with this due to myself and Kelly have had gall bladder removals and it took away our pain. Chase is dealing with the same stuff.. One hyda-scan showed his gall bladder was NOT working right and the last one said it WAS.. sooo. I am at a loss for what to do if this one comes back OK?? We have done all the test that you can imagine that has anything to do with his digestive system. All came back fine. He gets nauseated and hurts in his right shoulder and neck after he eats a fatty or greasy meal. He has gotten sick a few times. Keep us in your prayers for these test results!!

Great Hairbows on A Perfect Baby!!!

Kelly found these hair bows for Addie when she had almost no hair(she still don't have much). They call them for "Near Baldies" and they really stay in. I don't know how, but they do. To read more about them here is the link to Kelly's Blog that tells about them and there you will find the link for the Hair bows!! Kellys' Blog about the Hair bows!! This is one of the Hair bows in this picture!! My sweet little Tootie really makes this hair bow look good!!! They look good anyway, but I am partial. Can you Tell???? Lord what a precious child. I just want to pinch her little cheeks :-]

A GREAT COMPANY!!!

United Country is the best company. We have been having trouble with our email, being flagged as spam through Charter. A couple of calls to the home office and they have worked on it and got the problem solved. We are so lucky to have such a great group of folks working so hard for us in Kansas City. They are all appreciated very much!!!

Computers and a Crazy Week!!

I am so thankful for this weekend. This has been a crazy week at the office. We have been on the phone with Charter with email problems. They said it was not them, so we get on the phone with Microsoft for 3 hours. They said it was not them. So we do some test on Robert's computer it turns out it is not his computer. Sooo we get back on the phone with Charter 3 different times. Finally the last time Andrea(bless her heart)who is dealing with this (after 3 or 4 days of me dealing with it I was just about to go over the edge so she took it over)She finally got someone on the phone from Charter that actually knew what they were doing. Guess what IT WAS CHARTER AFTER ALL!!! Well it is fixed "sorta" and we will have to deal. It is so frustrating for people to keep passing blame. Several times we got on the phone and was sent from one person to another and then after about an hour we somehow got cut off! HUH Go figure that! Do you think it was an accident?? I don't. I think if you are being difficult some of them will just hang up on you!! The thing is you can't get back to that one person!! Well it is over now and maybe Monday will be better. It is a wonderful life and I am blessed. I went by and seen my Tootie after work Friday and she made everything better!!! She is my sweetie Pie!! Love ya Tootie!!
