15 Years Ago Today!

This is Chase and my Dad, when Chase was 2 months old(1st time Dad saw him)

15 Years ago today, my Daddy died of lung cancer. He was 67 years old. We found out on Dec 3rd of 1993 that his lung cancer had spread to his rib cage and his backbone. He went to the ER thinking he had pulled a muscle in his back and this is the news they give my brother. He called me and told me that the outlook for Daddy was not good. We buried him on Jan 3rd 1994.(one month to the day we found out he had cancer)

I miss him so much. I was the only girl with 3 brothers,(one older and two younger) I was "A DADDY'S GIRL"!! He was my world. Even though I had three brothers, I was his huntin' buddy, fishin' buddy and his shadow. He could not go anywhere without me right on his heels every step. I know there were times he would have love to go fishin' without me, so he could enjoy some peace and quiet and not have to answer 20 questions and keep me occupied. He was the most patient person I have known. He never got flustered and I don't know how with all of us rowdy kids.

I know we will be together again one day. I know he watches over us. His presence has been felt here in my home when Kelly was really sick.(I will save this story for another blog) It was not me he chose to reveal himself to, it was Robert. Robert never believed in things like this, until this happened to him. I believe that is why he chose Robert. Everyone would think I was just missing Daddy if it had been me.(It was just days away from Daddy's birthday, Robert had not remembered this and I had not mentioned this to anyone)He still don't like to talk about it.

Daddy, I know you are watchin' and I know you can see Tootie, I just wished you were here to bounce her on your knee like you have Kelly, and Chase and me of course. I sometimes watch Tootie with her Daddy and smile, I'm happy she loves her Daddy, but it also reminds me of you Daddy:o)

You are missed very much, save me a good spot in heaven beside you. I love you Daddy!!! Keep watchin over all of us!!

Kelly, and Coconut Pie!!

Here is one of Robert's Christmas gifts from Kelly. She called and was wanting to know what to get him for Christmas and he is so hard to buy for. He is not hard to please but he is wanting things that he really needs to pick out himself. Stuff for his motorcycle and things that no one would know what to get him.
He mentioned that it had been a long time since he had had a coconut pie. Kelly had never baked a coconut pie before so she went all over the net trying to find a good recipe and she found one. The finished product is pictured above it is so good and I don't really care for coconut!! She said it is really easy. I don't have the recipe, but if she posts it on her blog I will put in a link!!!
She has turned into quite the little cook. We jokingly call her Kelly Crocker!!! Thanks honey, your Dad said it is Yummy.(however he told Chase it was just awful, hoping he would not eat any of it:o)

I THINK I'M FINISHED!!

I think I am finished with my Christmas Shoppin. I have been "Finished" 3 times already this year. I don't know if my list is gettin' longer or my mind is gettin' shorter.....It's probably the latter.....I think.....I'm not sure I forgot????

It has been a rough week. Kelly got a virus or food poisoning, we are not sure which? She was put in the hospital late Wednesday and stayed until late Thursday. She is a lot better, but is still very weak. They were suppose to go to Chattanooga for a 50th wedding anniversary for Tony's Grandparents and he was so lookin forward to it, but Kelly was just not up for the trip. She is slowly gettin better. They give her several bags of fluid and some antibiotic while she was in the hospital.

Tootie really missed her. She kept asking for her, the night she was in the hospital. I know she did not understand what was happening. But her Daddy took good care of her. He had her dressed up and lookin good both times I saw her that day. He is such a good Daddy. Her world comes together when he gets home from work.

HICKS HOSPITAL

Chase went back to the Doc again today. He was just there last Monday. Three Shots and bottles of medicine. He got to feeling better, then yesterday he said his throat hurt and was coughing real bad. He did not feel better this mornin, so Robert took him to the Doc and we got 3 more shots and more meds and doctor's excuse to be out of school till Wednesday. He is borderline pneumonia. I think Doc Jim called it walking pneumonia. He run a little fever last night but it broke and he has not run fever since. He is bored and doin some school work, (a book report I think) I am not real worried about that, he has all A's and one B this year so he is doin well for his senior year.

Robert went with him this morning, he fell a week ago and we thought he had cracked his hip, so he went and had it x-rayed. Doc said he thought it was a pulled muscle, he did not see anything else on the x-ray. He also got a tetnus shot. He went into an old house the other day and stepped on a rusty nail. Went right thru his shoe. We cleaned it out and I told him he really needed a tetnus shot.

I went to the doc last week. I run fever for the first time in 17 years. I don't get sick much, but I missed a day of work for the first time in 3 years. I also got 3 shots and taking the same antibiotic that Chase is taking now. I hope we get better soon. Winter ain't even here yet. I hope this is not what this winter is going to be like....?????

So Glad it's Friday! TGIF

I am so looking forward to this weekend. It has been a crazy week. My Mom and I have both been sick and I have not seen her since last Friday. I did not leave the house last Saturday or Sunday due to being sick. She is feeling better and so am I. I hope we can get together this weekend and have coffee and visit a little. We try to do this every weekend. I am so busy during the week and she sews for the public, volunteers at the Chamber on Fridays, and has started a computer class at the library on Thursdays and she is so excited about learning how to use a computer. I told her it is a lot easier than you think. I learned everything by trial and error with the help of my wonderful Brother who is a Computer Tech at a college in South Mississippi... He was very helpful and so patient with my tons of questions.

I hope to see Tootie this weekend too!!

Everyone enjoy your weekend and cherish time with family and friends!!!

Homecoming Parade!!

We all went to the Chamber (where my Mom volunteers on Friday) and waited for the parade to come by. Mom, Kelly, Tony, Addie, Robert and myself stood out in front of the Chamber and yelled and cheered as all the seniors came by. This is such an exciting time for the HCHS seniors. I can't believe that Chase will be graduating in 7 short months. I am sad and happy all at the same time. This is my Baby, and he is fixing to be out in the world. It can be an ugly place sometime. But he is a good boy with lots of compassion for other people and I think with the Lord's help he will be just fine. Mom and Dad will be around for him too.

Well, here I go ramblin' on....

Chase cleaned on his car late into the night Thursday and left the house at 6:30 Friday morning to clean on it again. He wanted it spit shined for the Parade. It looked good.

A NEW PUPPY CAN HEAL YOUR HEART!

AN ANGEL BABY NIECE HELPS TOO!!!

If you have been reading my blog, you know about our dog Patch with cancer and we had to have the vet come and put him to sleep.

Well, A puppy showed up at my daddy-in-law's house less than a week after Patch was put to sleep and he already has 3 dogs and is taking care of two more that belongs to his grand daughter. This dog was black and white just like Patch. Pop kept thinking someone would come and claim him, but they never did. Robert told him if no one came to get him in a week or so we would take him. Well the Lord works in mysterious ways. Chase went to get him and he named him Echo. I don't know where he got the name from but this puppy has healed Chase's heart. He is so much fun and has done put Blaze(our other dog) in his place. This is just a puppy only a few months old. But he guards food like a Pit Bull....He will growl and Blaze will just back away. He sleeps by the food bowl.... to make sure Blaze stays away! We are fixing to purchase another bowl and separate them. Echo can't be two places at one time!!! LOL:-] Chase took him to the vet and got all of his shots and medicine that he needs.
I will try to keep everyone updated with news and pictures as he grows!!
It is a wonderful life and we live in the greatest Country in the world. God Bless America!!!

Chase had a birthday and we got him a cake and had just family and Amanda(who is like family).

He never has wanted a big deal made over his birthday. He is a very low keyed kinda person. He is a senior this year and will be graduating soon. I can't believe it. He is such a good boy and has not give us a minute of trouble. I love you son. Happy Birthday!!

Kelly's Surgery!

Kelly's surgery went well. I would have blogged sooner, but I have been helping out with Tootie. She is a handful with two good hands and Kelly is one handed right now. The doctor removed all of the cyst. It was sent off(this is standard procedure). She is still in a lot of pain and had to change her pain meds. Kelly does not like taking anything. She got home about 3:00 on Wednesday and was feeling really sick to her stomach. They did put her to sleep and we did not think they were going to do that. Dr. Antwine was wonderful. She really liked him. She will be in a cast for two weeks and then has to go back and let them take the stitches out. Tootie had been to the doctor on Tuesday and was running fever with an ear infection. So here she was sick and Kelly having to have surgery. She did not want to leave Tootie with her being sick. I sat with her and we did just fine. We are like "Peas and Carrots"! She would not take a nap for me, but, Heck, we were havin' too much fun!!!
Keep Kelly in your prayers. She is wondering how she will manage with only one hand. I told her she will be surprised at what she will be able to do..

My Precious Girls!!!

Here are my two "babies". I will be keeping Tootie tomorrow while Kelly goes to Jackson for the surgery on her wrist. She is hoping to be back by noon, if all goes as planned. She does not seem to be worried about it. It's only "Minor" surgery if it is happening to someone else. She is not going to be put to sleep, they will just numb her arm from her elbow down. I hope she does not have a lot of pain from it. She will be in a permanent splint for 2 weeks. Please keep her in your prayers. We will all be around to help. That's what Grandmas and Grandpas do. I will let you know how it goes. Kelly will be bloggin' really slow one handed;-D

MY BABY IS 17!!!

My baby is 17 today. I can't believe he is a senior and will be graduating soon. He is such a good boy. He has not give us a minute of trouble. He keeps the grass mowed here at home and mows my Momma's yard too. Never fusses about it.

He wants to get his Real Estate License when he graduates, but he won't be old enough. You have to be 18 to get a Real Estate License and he will only be 17, he will turn 18 in September. He will have find something to do until then.
He is in the Wired Group at High School and is loving that. He loves to play his guitar. I went by his room the other night and he was peckin' on a keyboard that we bought for him a long time ago. He may be learning to play it too.

We are going to try to have a get together this weekend and have him a cake. We had to go to Dickson TN for some United Country training yesterday and today.. We got home about 6PM.
Happy Birthday Son, Your Mom and Dad love you more than you will ever know... Until you have children of your own and then you will understand!!!!

Toys R Us and Grandparents!

I went to Jackson with Kelly, Tony and Tootie yesterday to a doctor's appointment. We went by Sam's for Tony to get some office supplies and we fed Tootie there. Then we went to Toy's R Us. This was the first time I had ever been in there With Tootie.
This is a dangerous combination, Grandparents and Toy's R Us. I just had to buy her something!!! I found her a Tiger Basketball goal that growls when you make the basket(I think this will keep Tony entertained as well) We have also been looking for her one of those little wooden "cobbler's bench"! We found her one of those(I bought 2, one for my house and one for Home) We also found another wooden toy that has balls in the top and you hit them through a hole and it rolls down several levels and come out at the bottom of the tower.
She was pounding it good and we were gritting our teeth waiting for her to smack her finger. Her aim was pretty good. No sooner did we get pulled out of the driveway she had smacked her fingers. Kelly said she cried and cried.
But she was tired, and everything is worse when you are tired!!!
Grammy loves ya Tootie!!!

We're Goin to Jackson!!

I can't believe how big Addie looks in this picture. She has grown so much!!!

I am goin' to Jackson with Kelly and Tony tomorrow. She has an appointment with a surgeon, to discuss surgery on her wrist. She has a cyst on the top of her wrist. She has had it drained a few times and it keeps coming back and is giving her lots of trouble. I will be going to keep an eye on Tootie so they can talk to the doctor "undisturbed" If My precious grand baby is in the room, trust me, she IS the center of attention. She is not one to be ignored!!! She has that kind of personality that you just can't help but love. She is out going and smiles all the time.

We will be leaving around lunch sometime and should not get back too late. We may run by Toys R Us and look for another gate. There was an accident tonight with one of the baby gates they have. Kelly will probably blog about that. Addie is OK though...

Well, we are healing over the loss of Patch. Blaze sure has been more subdued and quiet. It is going to take some time for him to get used to being alone. Robert told Chase he needs to spend more time with him the next few weeks.

I will go in tomorrow and work about a half a day before we head out. Keep Kelly in your prayers.

Are there Dogs in Heaven??

PATCH
Tears are rolling and I can hardly see the screen. The vet came to our home today and put Patch to sleep. It was drizzling rain and such a somber day for a somber mood. Dr. Edwards was so sweet he gave him a shot that put him to sleep first. He was very sympathetic and knew that Patch was a part of the family. Kyle and Jason were here with Chase and that was a huge help. Chase cried, but he knew it was best. He loved that dog, as did Robert and I. Kelly grew up with him too. I hope there are dogs in heaven, because if they are, Patch is with my Daddy right now.

Kyle dug the hole for us and said a prayer and it was so sweet. Chase has went over to Kyle's Grampa's shop to build some kind of Memorial for him to put out here in the yard where we buried him. I have tried not to cry in front of Chase and Robert because they are really taking it hard. I am home by myself and the tears are rolling like crazy. I know it had to be done. He was really starting not to feel good. He would not come when we called and when Blaze(our other dog)tried to get his food he could not even growl at him.

Blaze is running all over the back yard wondering where Patch is.

Well, life goes on.....

Patch

We have had lots of pets over the years. We are more dog people than cats. Cats just kinda sit there and look at ya. We have had a dog named Patch for almost ten years.(yes he got his name from the 101 Dalmatian movies. Chase named him) He was Chase's pet. He went with Robert to go pick him up from Billy Hardin. He is a rat terrier and has been such a good dog. When he was little he would cover himself up with an old towel we had put in his dog house. He is an outside dog. We can't have an inside pet. I am a flea and mosquito magnet(this is a huge Understatement ask any of my family) I can be in the room with a hundred other people and if there is a flea or mosquito it will bite me and no one else. Anyway, we took Patch to the vet a couple of months ago. He had a growth come up on his chest. We at first thought it was a ringworm, boil, snake bite and it would not go away. It kept getting bigger and bigger. We finally took him into the vet and he took one look at it and said it was Cancer. He said he could operate but more than likely he would not live through the surgery and it would only grow back. It is growing at an enormous rate. We have given him meds twice a day for the past couple of months to help slow the growth and to keep out infection, but we are losing the battle. I got a picture that doesn't really show it much. It looks really bad and I don't think it would be good to show a "better" picture of it. It is bigger than grapefruit size and everyday it looks like it is getting bigger. He is starting to act like he does not feel good. He also looks like he is losing weight. We told Chase when his quality of life starts to suffer we are going to have him put down. (I hate those words) But I can see it happening. Robert ask me today what do I think and I give him my blessing and I briefly discussed it with Chase.(he did not want to talk about it) Chase is old enough to know and we want his blessing too. He knows it is best but he has had this pet over half his life. Please keep us in your prayers.

I always Said "He could destroy a Sherman Tank"!!!!!

Chase is one of the very best teenager drivers I know. He does not drive too fast and he is not reckless and he has never had a wreck. But give him the keys to a vehicle, any vehicle and it will break down on him. He swears that it happens every time he fills the gas tank of said vehicle... Not just put in a few dollars worth, to get him where he is going. But tops off the tank...He has a 72 Buick, beautiful car but really bad on gas. We also have a 95 red jeep(it is kind of an extra vehicle that we have in case we need it) Chase has been driving it due to the High Gas Prices and the fact that his Girlfriend is 38 mile round trip from our house..

In the past 2 weeks, the jeep has had to have a alternator, a starter and the buick has had to have a new battery. Two days in a row, Chase called and was in a vehicle that would not crank and had to call us. The jeep had to be towed and the Buick had to be jumped off and drove to AutoZone for a new battery. He wanted to drive my Tahoe somewhere the other day and I laughed and told him "I don't Think so"!! It is running fine "thank you very much" I don't have time for car trouble.

I used to tease when he was little the he could "destroy a Sherman Tank". I did not realize how prophetic that would turn out to be. I have added a picture of Chase's car and a Before and After of the Jeep. This is probably what the Red Jeep will look like in a year(or maybe sooner)??!!!
I pray "Lord just keep him safe.... The cars can be replaced but he can't!!!

A Momma Knows These Things!

We had Chase back to the hospital yesterday for yet another Hyda Scan(this is a test that tells if your gall bladder is emptying like it is suppose to) He had one 2 years ago and it was dumping at 21%! (the low side of normal is 38%) so this means that if I had not been overruled by Chase and his Daddy he would be gallbladderless and would not have went through the last two years afraid to eat certain foods. Anyhoo, last year we done a second Hydascan, its dumping at 93% that day. Whoopee! Well nothing changes he still gets sick after he eats greasy or fatty foods, but not every time??? We take him to Lebonour and have a CT scan, endoscopy, colonoscopy, and blood work at the wazoo. Can't find nothing?? Really I told them I thought it was his gallbladder(I speak from experience, I don't have mine, Kelly had hers removed at the ripe young age of 21, she was doing the same thing Chase is doing now.... My mother is gallbladderless as is 2 of my 3 Dear brothers.) Yes we have a huge disdain for gall bladders!!! Well yesterday it is dumping at about 38 or 39 percent??? I have no idea what the doctors are going to do. Three reading that vary this much I just don't understand.. But the symptoms are as plain as the nose on your face. I did not call the doc today for fear of what I might hear?? I want to hear, "Yes We need to remove his gall bladder." If I don't get to hear that I really don't know what else to do.. I am at a loss of how to help my son. I do understand that a surgeon cannot remove body parts because Mommy says so. I would do this for him in a heartbeat if I knew it would make him better!! Keep us in your prayers!! We have excellent Medical Facilities here for a small town. The nuclear med tech, Karen is an angel. We have gotten to know here very well with all the Hyda Scans we have had!LOL We have a great surgeon here too. Dr. Greene, he did Kelly's and my surgery!!

Motorcycle SOLD!

Chase had his motorcycle for sale. It sold within a week from the time he put a For Sale sign on it. It was a good deal. It was just like new. He had out grown it long ago, but had issues with parting with it. He finally decided he needed the $1100.00 more than the motorcycle. He is going to put some of the money in savings and use the rest to fix up his car. He is a pretty good kid. He is home when he is suppose to be and has not gotten mixed up in drugs and alcohol. He loves playing his guitar and hangin with friends. This is his senior year and he is in the group "Wired" at HCHS and he is so excited. I can't believe he is a senior already. As for the #13 Chase has always thought of that as a lucky number. It was the number Robert wore on his jersey when he played Basketball when he was a kid!!
