THE HICKS CHRISTMAS!

We had a wonderful time this year. Addie is old enough to open presents and she was so excited. She did not know what she wanted to play with. However she spent the entire evening vacuuming my carpet with my little sweeper or playing with my Homedics Foot Massager.(which I absolutely love).



We had a wonderful time and plenty of food.



Mom was here and she made Addie a Christmas shirt and bought her a baby doll and made her a Christmas shirt and a pair of jeans. I got Kelly a Slanket from QVC, I hope she loves it as much as I love mine.

Tony was sportin' his TN Vols Christmas Hat, We had a blessed Christmas.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY "BAW BAW"!!

We got together last night for Robert's Birthday. We had Hot Dogs, Chili, Cornbread, and Mom made a big Pot of Blue Soup!!(I think the real name would be bean soup)This has several different kinds of beans, corn, and ham. When done the soup looks blue. We also had Pumpkin Pie(Robert's favorite) and Cherry Cheesecake. We built a fire and had coffee. Tootie just run all over the house and had the biggest time going up and down the couple of steps that goes down to my sunken living room. She thought she was really big!!!

I bought her a Christmas necklace and bracelet set with Red and Green beads. The beads are on elastic. She put them on and wore them like a big girl. She is growing up so fast and she is the light of my life.

Addie called me MaMaw the other day too. We have been calling me, Grammy to her, but I guess that is hard to say. So the other day at the office someone told her to go get Grammy and she come flying through my office door hollerin' Mamaw! I could not believe it. Mom was there and heard her say it and Robert was in his office and heard her too. So I guess I am "MaMaw"!!!!

Pickwick Belle Featuring Addie the Dancer!!!

We went on the Pickwick Belle compliments of Hardin County Bank and we had a ball. Especially Addie. They had a live band playing Jimmy Buffet music and Addie Cleared the floor and stood in front of the band and danced the night away. We had heavy Hor'dourves, they were really good. Addie eat some of everything. She even ate lamb and loved it. She is her Baw Baw's Baby!!!

We had a good time and took lots of pictures. Tony won a Door Prize from the Saw Meal and I won one from Michaels. There were a lot of real estate folks so we got to see some of them and catch up.

Robert took Addie up on the top deck to watch the Paddle Wheel and she just squealed... A little water sprayed her in the face and she loved it!!

Finally a Fire in the Fireplace!!!!

We finally built a fire tonight for the first time this year. This is where we will spend most of our time in the winter time. We have had firewood for more than 2 months and was not expecting it to get this cold this soon. A wood fireplace is messy, but I have a sweeper I keep charged all the time to clean up any bark or wood chips that Robert might drop bringing in the wood. But that is alright because we love a roaring fire and the crackling of the fire.

We have a flat screen TV and love to build a fire and relax. Robert and I had to go to Adamsville and look at a house and we stopped at Jack's and picked up a couple of Chicken Dinners, came home, built a fire, and had supper in front of the fireplace.

How Romantic is that????

THE FOUR IRENES!!

For Labor Day we had Mom, Kelly, Tony, and Addie came over for the evening. Kelly made manicotti and it was so good. I had never had it before. It was kinda like lasagna without the meat. She also made a Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. We fixed Caesars Salad, corn and I had some Sister Shubert Rolls(these are great with anything). We sat and visited and played with Addie. She is a hoot. She kept us laughing the entire evening. She had Robert's old cell phone and keep listening to the ring tones and was bobbin her head to the music. Kelly really loved music when she was little and Addie is just like her. She tries to sing along and we are teaching her how to do the Hokey Pokey.

The one thing that will make adults act like silly kids, is a grandbaby. But it is so much fun and we are enjoying her so much. She loves to go outside, she could spend hours outside no matter how hot it is!!

Robert took some pics of Addie, Kelly, Mom and me. There are four generations here and we all have the middle name of Irene. This name has been handed down for generations. I have followed it back 7 generations on our family tree(once it was used as a first name).

I am so thankful that my Mom is here to enjoy Addie. Lots of kids don't get to know their grandparents so for Addie to have a Great Grandmother and be her namesake is really special.(for mom and Addie)

A Typical Weekend!!! Random Pictures!!

We have had an uneventful weekend. The usual grocery shopping and laundry and working around the pool. I went with Robert yesterday to take some new pictures of a cabin in Olive Hill. The owners had bought some new Patio furniture and had a mantel put up over the fireplace. We road around on the land some. Did some 4 wheelin'. I am not too crazy about, but it wasn't too bad. We crossed the same Creek 4 times. It winds all over the property.

This morning Robert and Chase went and done some sign work and took a few more pictures of some land that Robert has bought and we have put back on the market. Kelly called after church and I went by and got her and we went to Peebles and bought Addie some Fall and Winter clothes. She has had a ton of clothes but for this fall and winter she has hardly nothing!! Poor Baby! Yeah Right!! As long as I have a dollar in my pocket she won't do without.... I love shopping for her and buying her clothes, shoes, toys... it doesn't matter I just like buying her anything!!! We got her some PJ's and Kelly got her a couple of summer things too that she can wear this summer. She is growing so fast.

Mom came over this evening and drank coffee and had some Blackberry Cobbler with us. Her gout is acting up and she is in a lot of pain when this happens. She is taking her meds and that seems to be helping. Well that is about it for our weekend.

Chase spent some time with Amanda. She is a nice girl. I really like her.

My Wonderful Husband

My wonderful husband cooked supper tonight. I went to the grocery store and bought everything with really good intentions. By the time I got home I was not in the mood to cook. So my sweet husband grilled pork chops, fried okra, yams, and green beans and it was really yummy! I cleaned the kitchen and put everything in bowls to put in the fridge... Thank you sweetie!!

Uncle Chase

Uncle Chase and Addie. What can I say?? He loves this baby so much!! I have better pictures of the two of them together but this one is special. This was the 4th of July everyone had been swimming, Chase had went in to shower and change he was goin' to hang out with friends. He came outside and Addie held out those sweet little hands in a "Please hold me Uncle Chase" way. But what you need to know is Chase had on clean dry clothes and Addie was soaking wet from pool water and the little thing in her mouth was full of watermelon!! She had sticky watermelon juice all over her and running down both arms and her chin. Chase did not care! His baby niece wanted her Uncle and that is all that mattered... Now that is only an Uncle's Love!! What a sweet son I have. He is probably the only junior last year that had baby pictures in the front of his binders. He ask me every so often if I had updated pictures of Addie so he could put new ones in front of his binders!! Addie loves him so much. When she comes over and he is not in the room she will go to the end of the hall and holler for him. She calls him Bubba!!!

Lazy Mornin'

We have had a lazy mornin'. It is 11:ooam and we are still drinkin' coffee and watchin' the news. I need to get up and get to the grocery store. I am still trying to figure out this blogging. I am trying to get it looking good. Chase is mowing. He was suppose to get it done yesterday but he spent the day with his Girlfriend Amanda. She seems really nice. We have three riding mowers and still don't have one that halfway runs. Two of them has been in the shop in the last month!! I think it is time for a new one. We could have bought a new one for the $$$'s we have spent on fixing these we have!!

Hot Dogs and Chili!!

We had family over tonight for Hot Dogs and Chili! Kelly, Tony, Addie, my Mom, Chase and his girlfriend Amanda and of course Robert and Me. Tony and Addie went swimming and the rest of us stayed in the house where it was cool. We had Chocolate Pie for dessert and we got to set and visit. Addie walked around all night with my phone talkin' like she knew exactly who she was talkin' to!! She is learning to count. It is so funny she is learning new words and learning to count and she still has Only TWO Teeth. Her top teeth are being very stubborn about coming in. She is such a good baby and minds really well. Kelly always insist on picking up the toys that Addie has scattered while she is here. I don't mind them laying around. It has been such a long time since my floor was scattered with toys. Well I am fixing to call and check on Chase, he took Amanda home and the weather might get stormy!
