CHASE IS 17!!

Chase had a birthday and we got him a cake and had just family and Amanda(who is like family).

He never has wanted a big deal made over his birthday. He is a very low keyed kinda person. He is a senior this year and will be graduating soon. I can't believe it. He is such a good boy and has not give us a minute of trouble. I love you son. Happy Birthday!!

SUPER SLOPPY JOES!!!!

This is the sauce I use for my Sloppy Joe's. However, after I fix per the directions on the can. I spoon onto the Buns and top with Swiss Cheese or any other you might like, I wrap them in foil and put in the oven to heat and melt the cheese. Maybe 5 or 10 minutes. I already have the oven on, because when I make this I bake Ore Ida crinkle cut fries in the oven. So I time it so the sandwiches and fries come out of the oven at the same time. They are very messy to eat but OH so good. If you toast the buns first they are not as soggy.

God Bless Our Troops!

Our local national guardsmen came home last Friday after a tour in Iraq. The town turned out to welcome them home by decorating our businesses and waving flags as they came in to town. They had a police escort and a large following of cars and motorcycles. We are so blessed to have brave men and women that put themselves in harms way and give up their lives to give us the freedom that we enjoy (and sometimes take for granted) We should never forget that there is someones father, brother, son, mother, sister or daughter that is giving their all to protect our great country!!! This is the greatest country in the world. We need to keep God first and everything else will fall into place(God's Plan may not be our plan)

Kelly's Surgery!

Kelly's surgery went well. I would have blogged sooner, but I have been helping out with Tootie. She is a handful with two good hands and Kelly is one handed right now. The doctor removed all of the cyst. It was sent off(this is standard procedure). She is still in a lot of pain and had to change her pain meds. Kelly does not like taking anything. She got home about 3:00 on Wednesday and was feeling really sick to her stomach. They did put her to sleep and we did not think they were going to do that. Dr. Antwine was wonderful. She really liked him. She will be in a cast for two weeks and then has to go back and let them take the stitches out. Tootie had been to the doctor on Tuesday and was running fever with an ear infection. So here she was sick and Kelly having to have surgery. She did not want to leave Tootie with her being sick. I sat with her and we did just fine. We are like "Peas and Carrots"! She would not take a nap for me, but, Heck, we were havin' too much fun!!!
Keep Kelly in your prayers. She is wondering how she will manage with only one hand. I told her she will be surprised at what she will be able to do..

My Precious Girls!!!

Here are my two "babies". I will be keeping Tootie tomorrow while Kelly goes to Jackson for the surgery on her wrist. She is hoping to be back by noon, if all goes as planned. She does not seem to be worried about it. It's only "Minor" surgery if it is happening to someone else. She is not going to be put to sleep, they will just numb her arm from her elbow down. I hope she does not have a lot of pain from it. She will be in a permanent splint for 2 weeks. Please keep her in your prayers. We will all be around to help. That's what Grandmas and Grandpas do. I will let you know how it goes. Kelly will be bloggin' really slow one handed;-D

Cran-raspberry Spinach Salad
I was very impressed and it was so easy to make. I made it just like the recipe called for.

Off to Dickson for Training....

The United Country Home office done an Associate Power training session in Dickson TN, several of us went on Tuesday and Wednesday. We left at the butt crack of dawn both mornings. I am not a morning person. But it was fun. We always have fun when we do any kind of training or meetings. This was a two day training at the Renaissance Plaza in Dickson. I had never been there before but it was a gorgeous place.. Lunch was provided and we had wireless Internet. Everyone came away with something new they had learned. We took notes and got to ask questions. They had a great Power Point Program and we had notebooks to follow along with.

Jim Graves our Regional VP and Bill Baker the RVP from the Northeastern Division came and done the meeting. It was very educational. There was 10 of us from our office and we carpooled together. United Country is a great company to work for. They do so much for their franchisee and our agents. We are really blessed to have such a great company behind us...

MY BABY IS 17!!!

My baby is 17 today. I can't believe he is a senior and will be graduating soon. He is such a good boy. He has not give us a minute of trouble. He keeps the grass mowed here at home and mows my Momma's yard too. Never fusses about it.

He wants to get his Real Estate License when he graduates, but he won't be old enough. You have to be 18 to get a Real Estate License and he will only be 17, he will turn 18 in September. He will have find something to do until then.
He is in the Wired Group at High School and is loving that. He loves to play his guitar. I went by his room the other night and he was peckin' on a keyboard that we bought for him a long time ago. He may be learning to play it too.

We are going to try to have a get together this weekend and have him a cake. We had to go to Dickson TN for some United Country training yesterday and today.. We got home about 6PM.
Happy Birthday Son, Your Mom and Dad love you more than you will ever know... Until you have children of your own and then you will understand!!!!

I am going to try to do it again. I have been perusing some recipe websites and found a recipe or two I am going to try. I bought a Taste Of Home Magazine(I bought Kelly one too) and will look for an item or two in it for later. This is the first cooking magazine I have bought in a long time... THE NEW MEANING OF "LOW"!!!!

This is a new low for the media. I am sick of the attack on Sarah Palin and her family. The media says it is not bias. The media thinks that the American people are a bunch of Brainless Morons that can't figure out who to vote for. I hope people are not falling for this. I don't care what your political affiliation. I may be treading in murky water here, blogging about something political, but this is so sad. The way this woman and her family has been splashed all over the cover of magazines with titles like this.. Anyone can look at these covers and see what the media is trying to do. I do Not need a movie star or some celebrity to tell me who to vote for. I am not stupid and I can figure it out on my own, Thank you Very Much....

Oprah says she is not going to have Palin on her show until After The Election...Hmmm I wonder why??? Do ya think it might hurt Obama's Chances as President??? Well surely not!!! I think she is scared!!

US Mag has turned into a Rag Mag and it's right up there(or down there) with the Enquirer!!

Comment if ya want(I guess I have ask for it )

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

THE FOUR IRENES!!

For Labor Day we had Mom, Kelly, Tony, and Addie came over for the evening. Kelly made manicotti and it was so good. I had never had it before. It was kinda like lasagna without the meat. She also made a Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. We fixed Caesars Salad, corn and I had some Sister Shubert Rolls(these are great with anything). We sat and visited and played with Addie. She is a hoot. She kept us laughing the entire evening. She had Robert's old cell phone and keep listening to the ring tones and was bobbin her head to the music. Kelly really loved music when she was little and Addie is just like her. She tries to sing along and we are teaching her how to do the Hokey Pokey.
The one thing that will make adults act like silly kids, is a grandbaby. But it is so much fun and we are enjoying her so much. She loves to go outside, she could spend hours outside no matter how hot it is!!
Robert took some pics of Addie, Kelly, Mom and me. There are four generations here and we all have the middle name of Irene. This name has been handed down for generations. I have followed it back 7 generations on our family tree(once it was used as a first name).
I am so thankful that my Mom is here to enjoy Addie. Lots of kids don't get to know their grandparents so for Addie to have a Great Grandmother and be her namesake is really special.(for mom and Addie)
Thank You Lord for the blessings on my family!!

Gustav Was a Katrina Wannabe!!

Hurricane Gustav largely spares New Orleans! was the Headlines I saw this morning. Gustav was not as bad as they thought is was going to be... It sure did set off the Tornado Warnings though. One good thing about Hurricane tornados they are usually F0 or F1's. They are bad but not usually as deadly as the F4's you get in the spring that can wipe a home off the foundation. These with hurricanes are usually rain wrapped and hard to spot but they don't last long.
I am just glad it wasn't another Katrina.
But it is way too early to let our guard down. We are still watchin' Hanna, Ike and number nine(I think) Please continue to pray for everyone who lives along the coast and inland due to heavy flooding.....
