THE HICKS CHRISTMAS!

We had a wonderful time this year. Addie is old enough to open presents and she was so excited. She did not know what she wanted to play with. However she spent the entire evening vacuuming my carpet with my little sweeper or playing with my Homedics Foot Massager.(which I absolutely love).

We had a wonderful time and plenty of food.

Mom was here and she made Addie a Christmas shirt and bought her a baby doll and made her a Christmas shirt and a pair of jeans. I got Kelly a Slanket from QVC, I hope she loves it as much as I love mine.

Tony was sportin' his TN Vols Christmas Hat, We had a blessed Christmas.

Kelly, and Coconut Pie!!

Here is one of Robert's Christmas gifts from Kelly. She called and was wanting to know what to get him for Christmas and he is so hard to buy for. He is not hard to please but he is wanting things that he really needs to pick out himself. Stuff for his motorcycle and things that no one would know what to get him.
He mentioned that it had been a long time since he had had a coconut pie. Kelly had never baked a coconut pie before so she went all over the net trying to find a good recipe and she found one. The finished product is pictured above it is so good and I don't really care for coconut!! She said it is really easy. I don't have the recipe, but if she posts it on her blog I will put in a link!!!
She has turned into quite the little cook. We jokingly call her Kelly Crocker!!! Thanks honey, your Dad said it is Yummy.(however he told Chase it was just awful, hoping he would not eat any of it:o)

Bell's was Great and so was Mom's Doc's Visit!!

Mom's Doc appointment went well. She is doin good. She has to go to Lexington in the morning for a Echo Cardiogram. She has not had one in a year and the doc says it's time. Then she has a follow up with Doc in Savannah around the end of April.(just routine)

We stopped at Bell's for lunch and had a Hamburger and Fries. We tried their Onion Rings for the first time today and they are really good too. Mom said it was one of the best burgers she has ever had.

The Burgers there have been written about in Magazines . They have been in business since 1954. It is on the way to Jackson and a great place to eat. They say they sell almost as much BBQ, but we have not tried it because the burgers are just too good.

I'M GOIN TO JACKSON(tn that is)

We are headed to Jackson to take my Mom for a Check with her heart doc. This is a follow up to the episode she had last month, just before goin to MS to visit with my brother and his kids. She had a heart Cath and it came back lookin fine. They always schedule a follow up appointment after she gets out of the hospital.

We are goin to stop at Bell's Diner in Henderson and have one of their Famous Hamburgers(not good for her heart??) I will call them soon, I'm not sure if they are open on Mondays.

We will have a good day of visiting, even if it is a Doc appointment. We may do some shoppin while she is in the Doc's office.

I will let you know how it goes!!!

I THINK I'M FINISHED!!

I think I am finished with my Christmas Shoppin. I have been "Finished" 3 times already this year. I don't know if my list is gettin' longer or my mind is gettin' shorter.....It's probably the latter.....I think.....I'm not sure I forgot????

It has been a rough week. Kelly got a virus or food poisoning, we are not sure which? She was put in the hospital late Wednesday and stayed until late Thursday. She is a lot better, but is still very weak. They were suppose to go to Chattanooga for a 50th wedding anniversary for Tony's Grandparents and he was so lookin forward to it, but Kelly was just not up for the trip. She is slowly gettin better. They give her several bags of fluid and some antibiotic while she was in the hospital.

Tootie really missed her. She kept asking for her, the night she was in the hospital. I know she did not understand what was happening. But her Daddy took good care of her. He had her dressed up and lookin good both times I saw her that day. He is such a good Daddy. Her world comes together when he gets home from work.

Lord, she is so Smart!

My precious grandbaby amazes me everytime I see her. Which is pretty often.
Robert and I offered to keep her last night so Tony and Kelly could have a quiet dinner. She came over and we had pizza(she eat 2 slices herself). We played, she is talking and repeating words. For her to have a vocabulary of a 19 month old, there is no question of what she wants. She can communicate better than most adults I know..
As soon as she heard her Mom and Dad come in our back door, she started hollerin' No, No, and come flying into the living room where Robert was. She did not want to go home. She wanted to stay here. But on her way into the living room, she stopped and tried to put up the baby gate that we have here. She thought if she got the gate up, her Mom and Dad could not get into the living room to get her...We have a sunken living room and she came running down the hall and dove over both steps right into her Baw Baw's arms(thank goodness) all the while hollerin' No(she drags this word out and it's kinda like Naaah!!!
She loves coming to our home and we love having her. I am so glad she does not cry when they leave her with us.

I love this child more than she will ever understand or know. I can't even think about her without smiling and most times laughing outloud at something she has done, or hearing something that reminds me of something she said..

She is doing fine they did a heart cath and did not see anything. But we all managed and she is home and doin well.

It is still real cold and soup weather and Robert has been hollerin for some Mexican Cornbread, so I am going to try to do some this week.

Works for me Wednesday

This is a tip I just had to share. Mouth Ulcers, Canker Sores, what ever they are called, hurt and make eating almost impossible. I found something that helps more than anything I have tried and I have tried Everything!! Milk of Magnesia(it does not matter what flavor), I know it sounds crazy but it works. It keeps them from hurting and it seems like they heal quicker. I dab it on with a q tip. I guess you could swish with it if you have more than one(My husband gets several at a time) This works for me!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY "BAW BAW"!!

We got together last night for Robert's Birthday. We had Hot Dogs, Chili, Cornbread, and Mom made a big Pot of Blue Soup!!(I think the real name would be bean soup)This has several different kinds of beans, corn, and ham. When done the soup looks blue. We also had Pumpkin Pie(Robert's favorite) and Cherry Cheesecake. We built a fire and had coffee. Tootie just run all over the house and had the biggest time going up and down the couple of steps that goes down to my sunken living room. She thought she was really big!!!

I bought her a Christmas necklace and bracelet set with Red and Green beads. The beads are on elastic. She put them on and wore them like a big girl. She is growing up so fast and she is the light of my life.

Addie called me MaMaw the other day too. We have been calling me, Grammy to her, but I guess that is hard to say. So the other day at the office someone told her to go get Grammy and she come flying through my office door hollerin' Mamaw! I could not believe it. Mom was there and heard her say it and Robert was in his office and heard her too. So I guess I am "MaMaw"!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

Here is my birthday present!! I saw one of these tables at a friends home.(I actually went to look at this home for the house plan layout and saw a similar table and fell in love with it)
This is a "Gathering Table" or "Pub Table". It is taller than the average dining table and the chairs are like bar stool height. We purchased this at Henco in Selmer (It's worth the drive). We went over to look and I thought I would have one or two to chose from. It turned out they have like 10 or 12. I had an awful time trying to decide. There were others I liked better but they were a little big for the space I have. But after getting it home and seeing it I absolutely love it!!! Thank you Robert!!!! I love you!!!

HICKS HOSPITAL

Chase went back to the Doc again today. He was just there last Monday. Three Shots and bottles of medicine. He got to feeling better, then yesterday he said his throat hurt and was coughing real bad. He did not feel better this mornin, so Robert took him to the Doc and we got 3 more shots and more meds and doctor's excuse to be out of school till Wednesday. He is borderline pneumonia. I think Doc Jim called it walking pneumonia. He run a little fever last night but it broke and he has not run fever since. He is bored and doin some school work, (a book report I think) I am not real worried about that, he has all A's and one B this year so he is doin well for his senior year.

Robert went with him this morning, he fell a week ago and we thought he had cracked his hip, so he went and had it x-rayed. Doc said he thought it was a pulled muscle, he did not see anything else on the x-ray. He also got a tetnus shot. He went into an old house the other day and stepped on a rusty nail. Went right thru his shoe. We cleaned it out and I told him he really needed a tetnus shot.

I went to the doc last week. I run fever for the first time in 17 years. I don't get sick much, but I missed a day of work for the first time in 3 years. I also got 3 shots and taking the same antibiotic that Chase is taking now. I hope we get better soon. Winter ain't even here yet. I hope this is not what this winter is going to be like....?????

Pickwick Belle Featuring Addie the Dancer!!!

We went on the Pickwick Belle compliments of Hardin County Bank and we had a ball. Especially Addie. They had a live band playing Jimmy Buffet music and Addie Cleared the floor and stood in front of the band and danced the night away. We had heavy Hor'dourves, they were really good. Addie eat some of everything. She even ate lamb and loved it. She is her Baw Baw's Baby!!!

We had a good time and took lots of pictures. Tony won a Door Prize from the Saw Meal and I won one from Michaels. There were a lot of real estate folks so we got to see some of them and catch up.

Robert took Addie up on the top deck to watch the Paddle Wheel and she just squealed... A little water sprayed her in the face and she loved it!!

Why I Vote the Way I Do!!

A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said:

'Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately
need your help! My baby is not even 1 yr. old and I'm
pregnant again. I don't want kids so close
together.'

So the doctor said: 'Ok, and what do you want me
to do?'

She said: 'I want you to end my pregnancy, and
I'm counting on your help with this.'

The doctor thought for a little, and after some
silence he said to the lady: 'I think I have a better
solution for your problem. It's less dangerous for you
too.'

She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to
accept her request.

Then he continued: 'You see, in order for
you not to have to take care of 2 babies at the same time,
let's kill the one in your arms. This way, you could
rest some before the other one is born. If we're going
to kill one of them, it doesn't matter which one it is.
There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in
your arms.

The lady was horrified and said: 'No
doctor! How terrible! It's a crime to kill a child!

'I agree', the doctor replied. 'But
you seemed to be ok with it, so I thought maybe that was the
best solution. The doctor smiled, realizing that he had
made his point.

He convinced the mom that there is no
difference in killing a child that's already been born
and one that's still in the womb. The crime is the same!
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? IS ONE BETTER THAN THE OTHER? IS IT ALRIGHT TO KILL THE ONE YOU HAVE NOT HELD IN YOUR ARMS?
I DON'T MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE, BUT I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!
GOD HAVE MERCY ON US!!
I have voted Democrat one time in my life and that is because the man I voted for had voted against abortion. I cannot understand how it is Ok to kill an unborn child, for any reason. Roe vs Wade needs to be overturned, we have come a long way on Birth Control... If you get pregnant now it is a good chance you were careless(I know this is not the case all the time) They call it Pro Choice, has anyone ask the baby what his or her choice would be????
I also do not believe same sex couples should be allowed to enter into the sanctity of marriage. I have no problem with them entering a contract that would allow them to get insurance and have the right to care for the other if they were to have some kind of sickness and decisions need to be made.
I also believe the right to bear arms is very important but not as much as a human life!!!

Finally a Fire in the Fireplace!!!!

We finally built a fire tonight for the first time this year. This is where we will spend most of our time in the winter time. We have had firewood for more than 2 months and was not expecting it to get this cold this soon. A wood fireplace is messy, but I have a sweeper I keep charged all the time to clean up any bark or wood chips that Robert might drop bringing in the wood. But that is alright because we love a roaring fire and the crackling of the fire.
We have a flat screen TV and love to build a fire and relax. Robert and I had to go to Adamsville and look at a house and we stopped at Jack's and picked up a couple of Chicken Dinners, came home, built a fire, and had supper in front of the fireplace.

How Romantic is that????

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

DO YOU BELIEVE THIS???

Well, Here is a New Low!! This is the home of a gay couple in West LA and this is "Halloween Decorations"! Some neighbors have complained, but the local police says there is no laws being broken. Can you imagine if the shoe was on the other foot here?? Then it would be a hate crime, but somehow this is OK.
This is so sad that our country has come to doing things like this. Please pray for our country and some of the sad people in it!!!

John McCain spent 5 & half years in a POW camp being beaten and tortured for my freedoms. The least I can do is give him my vote and 4 Years!!!

God Bless America!!!

An Example of "Redistribution of the Wealth!!"

Notice to All Employees
As of November 5, 2008, when President Obama is officially elected into office, our company will instill a few new policies which are in keeping with his new, inspiring issues of change and fairness:
1. All sales people will be pooling their sales commissions into a common pool that will be divided equally between all of you. This will serve to give those of you who are underachieving a "fair shake."
2. All hourly employees will be pooling their wages, including overtime, into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst yourselves. This will help those who are "too busy for overtime" to reap the rewards from those who have more spare time and can work extra hours.
3. All top management will now be referred to as "the government." We will not participate in this "pooling" experience because the law doesn't apply to us.
4. The "government" will give eloquent speeches to all employees every week, encouraging its workers to continue to work hard "for the good of all."
5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it's "good to spread the wealth." Those of you who have underachieved will finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had success will feel more "patriotic."
6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don't feel bad though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare, free handouts, free oil for heating your home, free food stamps, and he'll let you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can't pay your mortgage. If you appeal directly to our democratic congress, you might even get a free flat screen TV and a coupon for free haircuts (shouldn't all Americans be entitled to
nice looking hair?) !!!
If for any reason you are not happy with the new policies, you may want to rethink your vote on November 4th.
As a small business, we WILL be the victim of an Obama Presidency.I don't know about you, but I have not worked My Butt off to get to where I am at, so the government can come along and take my money and give it to whoever they think needs it.
Robert and I are very generous to certain local charities and if we are taxed anymore we will not be able to give to the charities of our choice.

My Grandbaby isn't feeling well......

My lil Toots is not herself...She has Allergies(we think) she is sneezin and stopped up. She is not running fever(thank goodness) Kelly took her to the Doc yesterday and he has given her some eye drops. Her eyes are red and swollen and matted up.... They do look better today though.

It could also be teething. She has cold symptoms when she is teething. Cindy (Tony's Mom) said that Tony done this when he was little. Keep her in your prayers, Kelly and Tony too. It seems like here lately it has been one thing right after another. Maybe when this weather decides what it is going to do it will be better for Tootie!!!
